Horsehair is a huge part of the bridal industry, but until now most people didn't see it or even know what it was called. Horsehair is not in fact horse hair, but instead a plastic banding used for the making of bridal gowns, evening wear, and hats. It is stiff and holds shapes well. Below it is used at the hem to add volume to the skirt.

Lately, horsehair has been used all over the wedding scene. It has become a major trend (thanks to Vera Wang) to use it for accessories. Veils are so last year (and hundreds before that). It's time for something new, and right now anything other than a veil is in.
