Traditions: Throwing the Bouquet

Throwing the bouquet has so much weight now a days! Every woman is boxing each other out as if participating in an olympic event. Meanwhile the bride innocently tosses back her bouquet. But...where did this crazy tradition start?

The customary tradition has its roots in England. It was believed that the bride could pass over her good fortune to other women. In order to gain the brides good fortune, women would try to tear away pieces of her bridal gown or bridal flowers. In an attempt to break free of the savages the bride would throw her bouquet into a crowd. The tradition says that the female whom catches the bouquet of flowers receives the brides' good fortune and will marry next. Fast forward centuries later to the present, and this tradition has become an imperative role in every wedding.
